Introduction by Chairman

Welcome to the the Portsmouth West Royal Navy/Royal Marines Sub-Aqua Club (PWSAC) info pages.

Based in HMS COLLINGWOOD, Fareham we are a 'Special' branch of the British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC), affiliated with the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Sub-Aqua Association (RNRMSAA).

Adventurous Training is a key element of Service life to promote self-confidence, leadership skills and team spirit, and helps to develop a strong Service ethos. Sub-Aqua is an ideal way of testing and developing yourself in a demanding, but exhilarating, underwater environment. Through BSAC's internationally-recognised diver training and development programme, our aim is to deliver Adventurous Training for Service personnel.

We meet every Wednesday evening from 1845 in our dedicated PWSAC clubhouse for training, skills practice, dive planning - and of course, social banter. Anyone interested in joining us, or just finding out more, is welcome to come along any Wednesday and meet us and get a feel of what we do. We can also offer try-dives in the pool for anyone who wishes to have a go before committing themselves.

Due to Adventurous Training regulations we are unable to accept civilian members unless they hold qualifications without which the club couldn’t operate, in practice that means Sub-Aqua Diving Supervisors (SADS) or some levels of instructor, depending on the circumstances. If you have any specific questions on this we’d be happy to answer them.

I hope that you’ll like what you see on this site and we’ll see you on Wednesday!
